Czech Crypto Heritage
The Czech Republic's Bitcoin Story
MR16 Crypto Lab's creator is originally from Rýmařov, Czech Republic. Long before that, the same country built some of Bitcoin's most important tooling — the first mining pool, the first hardware wallet, and more. These projects are listed here only because they share that Czech origin, not because MR16 has any connection to them.
To be clear: Trezor, SatoshiLabs, Slush Pool, and any other company or project below are completely independent of MR16 Crypto Lab. We did not build, own, or partner with any of them. They are simply Czech-built — and that shared country is the only link here.
Still, it's a nice reminder for someone from Rýmařov: world-class Bitcoin tools can come from anywhere, and the Czech Republic has punched well above its weight.
Slush Pool — The First Mining Pool
2010Founded in Prague by a Czech developer known as "Slush", Slush Pool was the world's first Bitcoin mining pool. It let individual miners combine their hashpower and share rewards — the model every mining pool still uses today.
Trezor — The First Hardware Wallet
2014Built in Prague, Trezor One was the first Bitcoin hardware wallet ever shipped. It turned the idea of "your keys, your coins" into a physical, tamper-proof device anyone could hold in their hand.
SatoshiLabs — The Company Behind Trezor
2013Prague-based SatoshiLabs invented the hardware-wallet category and later created the SLIP-39 Shamir backup standard — a key piece of Bitcoin self-custody security now used industry-wide.

TodayCzech exchanges like Coinmate, a growing scene of Bitcoin-only startups, and an unusually high rate of crypto adoption keep the Czech Republic quietly central to European Bitcoin innovation.
